Attn: CATIAHotline PLM’er,
Have you ever wanted to take a CATProduct and save it as a CATPart. Well Dassault has a really groovy tool that does this for you. To access this you must be in a CATProduct. Once there you can then go into the Assembly Design Workbench.
This is where the real magic happens. Make sure that your CATProduct is your active Document. Select Tools -> Generate CATPart from Product… If your CATProduct isn’t selected then you will not be able to Select OK. If it is selected then the name will be automatically filled out with the name of the Product.
You can then decide whether you want to merge, for each part, all the bodies of each particular part into a new Body for each Part. Note this process still creates a Body for each Instance and does not combine all the Parts into One Body (though that would be awesome if that were an option). Select OK and there you are a new CATPart out of a Product.
Hope you had a Safe and Wonderful 4th of July. Have a great week.
