CATIA PLM Weekly Email 0906 – make a CATIA client a LUM client.

Attn: CATIAHotline PLM’er,

This week we are going to talk about a swift and easy way to make a CATIA client a LUM client.

The LUM software doesn’t need to be installed on each and every CATIA client. The only thing that needto be done is the i4ls.ini file needs to be in the proper location on each machine.

Follow these easy steps to LUM Freedom.

1. You need a LUM Server running. Just because this is about LUM Freedom don’t think this is about License Freedom ;).

2. Create the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IBM\LUM folder on the client.

3. Copy the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IBM\LUM\i4ls.ini file from the server and put it in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IBM\LUM on the client.

That is it. Next week we will go a little further and remove all that isn’t needed in the i4ls.ini file.
